Norwegian Epic, at 153,000 tons and 4,200 passengers, is Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest and most innovative Freestyle Cruising ship to date, will be christened by legendary entertainer Reba McEntire July 2. The Epic will also be the host venue for the 34th Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks celebration. She will sail to Miami and begin alternating Eastern/Western Caribbean roundtrip cruises on July 10th.

Just the start of her Epic innovations, she offers several new types of accommodations including the curved New Wave staterooms; the largest Villas suite complex at sea on two private decks at the top of the ship; spa and family-friendly accommodations, and very new stateroom category;

Its 128 STUDIO staterooms, the first designed and priced for the solo traveler with no single supplement to add to the price.  The studio staterooms are part of a 2-deck complex and include private access to the Studio Lounge. Many of the Studios offer a connecting room, so the solo traveler may also travel with someone else and still maintain their privacy.
Continuing NCL’s Freestyle cruising, Norwegian Epic will offer the next generation of Freestyle Dining with 21 dining choices and 20 bars and lounges. 11 of the dining options are complimentary, while the other ten will have a nominal cover charge.

The Epic scores big with its wide variety of entertainment options and a number of at-sea firsts, with the Blue Man Group headlining exclusively on Epic. Cirque Dreams and Dinner present a unique interactive dining experience as the only big top at sea. Legends in Concert, Howl at the Moon and The Second City improvisational comedy all add up to make your week-long cruise brimming with entertainment options.  Spice H20 provides non-stop entertainment day and night.

Check-out a Gibson guitar and discover your inner rock star in the privacy of your stateroom.   In partnership with Gibson guitar, the “Check-In-Rock-Out” program offers an opportunity at the low cost of about $10/day to borrow a Gibson, companion pod and a private amplifier and headphones to rock-out without disturbing anyone. The pod includes controls and special effects for everything from blues to heavy metal.

The Mandara Spa is the largest spa facility and fitness center at sea with more than 31,000 square feet featuring 24 treatment rooms, private couple’s villas with many special experiences awaiting those who wish to indulge.  New to NCL, 39 spa suites have private key-card access and complimentary access to the enclave surrounding the adults-only, Hydrotherapy Courtyard & Thermal Suite. Eight suites have an in-room whirlpool.

Epic shines with its other onboard activities as well.  Your days can be filled experiencing the Aqua Park including the only tube slide and largest bowl slide at sea, The Epic Plunge. The 33-foot high, 64-foot wide extreme rock climbing wall and the first rappelling wall at sea offers a new thrill to standard rock walls.  Epic also has the most bowling lanes at sea with six. An unusual mixed-use sports deck allows guests to engage in eight different athletic activities. Three separate kids’ and teen activity areas add to their many options.

For a truly unique experience, the Svedka Ice Bar, one of only 14 in the world and the only true ice bar at sea awaits you. Experience the frozen fantasyland where the bar, the walls, the tables, the stools, even the life-size sculptures are made out of ice. You can slip into a faux fur coat to help keep you warm in the chilly 17 degrees.

High tech is everywhere on Epic.  Your stateroom TV is interactive and you can book shore excursions and entertainment shows, check your shipboard account, select on-demand movies and even experience DigiCasino to play video slots and poker without going to the casino.  Just remember, this is the real thing, your purchases to play will be charged to your onboard account.

If you’re tired of wading through all those pictures taken onboard trying to find yours, Epic uses the Youfinder® facial recognition software which is linked to the picture taken for your cruise card.  Just swipe your card at one of the photo kiosks and pictures taken of you by the ship’s photo staff will appear.  You can then have them printed or order a CD of all images to take home.
